South Carolina is a US state in the southeast of the country, known for its shoreline beaches and its historical sites. South Carolina has a population of about 5.024 million as of 2017. South Carolina’s major cities include Charleston, Columbia, Greenville, and Myrtle Beach. Charleston, the most famous city, is known for its cobblestone streets, pastel antebellum homes, and horse-drawn carriages. It has an estimated population of 134,875, as of 2017. Major industries in South Carolina include aerospace and aviation, automotive manufacturing, and life sciences.

South Carolina is known for its many travel destinations. Its beaches attract thousands of people. Myrtle Beach is famous for its views, the boardwalk, and its variety shows. North Myrtle Beach is known for its sand and water, as well as its Alligator Adventure animal park. Charleston is famous for its historical sites, such as the Charleston’s Historic Residential Carriage Tour, which allows you to sightsee in a horse-drawn carriage, pass by old homes, see decorative iron work, and learn history. The Charleston City Sightseeing Tour allows you to travel by bus to see the city. The Haunted Jail Tour is a perfect way for travelers to make the most out of their adventurous and history-loving sides. The tour takes you through the cells and hallways where the worst criminals of Charleston used to live in, backed by over 140 years of evil history.

Despite its many attractions, Charleston needs help. Volunteers can help with the Charleston Community Impact Corp. What they do is enrich the lives of children and adults alike by offering unique programs and services that build strong healthy self-esteems and rebuild broke spirits. This allows volunteers to not only impact the physical environment of the community, they also help uplift the community. The Trident United Way works with education, financial stability, and health in the community. Their purpose is to make real, long-lasting change in the country by addressing the issues that matter the most in people’s lives. The Charleston Hope Center allows people to volunteer to mentor kids for the time being with basic literacy and math skills.
